Do You Really Need Vitamins?


Vitamins are substances that our body needs in order to grow and develop normally. Every day, our body needs a required dietary allowance for these vitamins.  Recent studies show that 57% of women ages 40 and above consume vitamins more than men. They have these attitude of popping the pill.

But do we really need these vitamin supplements? To some, who are not in the pink of health they really need an extra boost for their immune system to work properly. But for others, we have to think twice. Are we just joining the bandwagon of taking a lot of pills a day because our friends are taking them? Or even yet taking those unnecessary pills in order for us to stay active and strong?

Here are ways on how to save money instead of buying a lot of vitamin supplements

   

  • DRINK PLENTY OF WATER: Studies show that drinking 8 glasses of water helps our digestive system work properly.  It hydrates our body and increases our metabolic rate. Increase in metabolism makes our body burn calories faster.
  • EAT LOTS OF FRUITS& VEGETABLES: Preferably those that are rich in Vitamins A, C, E, and minerals. These are citrus fruits, apples, bananas, cabbage, green beans, lettuce, red and green pepper, tomatoes, red guava, soursop, broccoli, carrots, pumpkin and leafy green vegetables to name a few. A well-balanced diet can satisfy our dietary allowance for the day.

  • WALK BRISKLY FOR 30 MINUTES Every day: According to a recent study conducted by the Duke University Medical Center, Durham, North Carolina, 30 minutes of brisk walking a day, 6 days a week can trim down waistlines and prevent the risk of metabolic syndromes, usually associated with a sedentary lifestyle and obesity. It has been found that one-quarter of US adults have metabolic syndromes.
  • LAUGH AND SMILE OFTEN: Studies show that laughter and smile decrease the levels of stress hormones in our body. And increases the level of antibodies in our bodies which helps in combating illnesses and diseases.
  • TAKE ONE MULTIVITAMIN SUPPLEMENT: Taking just one capsule daily of a multivitamin supplement that has the following: Vitamins A, B1, B2, B6, B12, C, and E is enough to make us ooze with vigor and vitality.

With these in mind, instead of buying various vitamin supplements, we can indeed save our hard-earned money.
