Strategic Locations to Sell Your Preloved Items in Jakarta

When a long holiday like  lebaran is over, we usually have more stuff than we used to; shoes bought at a sale with a relative, clothes bought for an informal gathering event, books you have picked up when you were idle at the airport, etc.

Sometimes we want to keep those items, especially if we like to give meanings to our belongings. In reality, how many dresses in your closet that you have not touched for months, waiting for you to wear? How many handbags that you have only worn once to a party? Or, a pair of idle leather shoes because the winter season that never come?

If you find a lot of things like these in your house, that means you are slowly becoming a hoarder. It is time to start decluterring and make those old useful for other people, while at the same time give back some profit for you!

LiveOlive has prepared a list of places to sale preloved items in Jakarta:

1. Branded Bags

If you have heard of Taman Puring before, try going to Taman Puring Market to sell some of your branded or leather bags that had been forgotten at home. This place is located at Kebayoran, South Jakarta, and you can reach it from Taman Puring, Mayestik, or Blok M.

At Taman Puring Market, you will find some types of bag sellers, even though not all of them would buy second-hand designer bags.

Before you stop by to ask the seller, look for one that only sells authentic bags, so that you will deal with a seller who understands about pricing and quality of a branded bag and is able to offer a reasonable price for your bag. You surely do not want to see your preloved Prada bag displayed side by side with a counterfeit product, do you?

“A second-hand designer bag that is sold along with its certification and dust bag will add value to the price. We will also consider the brand, the model, and the condition of the bag itself for the pricing,” says Khatib, the owner of a shop located on the first floor. For example, an authentic Chanel bag with a good condition can be sold for Rp 1 million or more.

2. DSLR Cameras

Sometimes we bought a camera and ended up using it for years, until we realize that it has outdated technology. Instead of piling up electronics at home, it is better to sell the camera so that other people who have limited budget but need it, can buy it – i.e. the design students.

This is also a good way to add your budget if you are planning to buy a new camera or an upgrade version of what you currently have.

One of the places you can visit is Sentra Kamera, located on the 2 nd floor of Metro Atom Plaza, Pasar Baru, in Central Jakarta. In this floor, you will find several stores that would want to buy your camera. Do not hesitate to go around and compare the prices.

However, if you want to sell shoes, there are some shops that are willing to accept, i.e. a shop owned by Ade on the first floor. At his place, you can sell business-casual shoes, work shoes, boots, as well as suede or leather shoes.

Some of the brands visible to the eyes and organized neatly on the shelves of this shop are Clarks, Gucci, Kickers, and Bally. The range of price given for a pair of shoes made from genuine leather that are still in good conditions and without defect is between Rp 250,000-Rp 400,000.
